Hi all! Glad you had a good day yesterday. My journey back was fine - but nearly got all my gear locked in a container in Penzance overnight. I read Sally and Amy's blog entry on the geophysics and you are far too hard on yourselves! We produced a lot of geophysical data over the last 10 days - almost all of it collected during someone's first experience of geophysics. Well done to all of you! Thanks, too, for making my stay with you so pleasant...

Ah hah! A good point about the salt making, there are some poorly fired clay artefacts (well lumps) as well as the clay platforms - so there may be briquetage (objects used in evaporating salt water to extract the salt). The RB folk were definately fishing, hunting (for seals and sea birds at least), farming and gathering shellfish. The remains of the 'hut' are very sparse and poised on the edge of a eroding section - so we are stuck with a very small bit of evidence.

Tean is uninhabited now, it was kelp producing in the seventeenth century. Was it a leper colony at the time of the cist burials? and apart from the "corn-driers" what was the R-B community doing. Any indications of salt production?

Hello all!

I hope everything is going well on the isles, with lots more flint found for me to look at, and that team Rhys/Dave finished those test pits!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to everyone before I left, the change of quay led to a slight rush on saturday morning. But, I hope the rest of the project goes well and that the weather stays good (its better than in Wales!). Have fun and see you around Cardiff sometime soon.
